Steve Goldby

Venrock Associates

A Director of Qteros since 2008, Steve Goldby was appointed Chairman in 2010.

Mr. Goldby has served as a Partner with Venrock since 2007 after spending nine years as CEO of Venrock-backed materials science company, Symyx Technologies, where he is currently Executive Chairman. Mr. Goldby has served as the CEO of MDL Information Systems, a leading scientific information company, before its sale to Reed Elsevier. Prior to MDL, he held various management positions at Alza Corporation (acquired by Johnson and Johnson), including President of Alza Pharmaceuticals, as well as President of specialty-chemical company, Dynapol.

Previously, Mr. Goldby served on the boards of Vitae Pharmaceuticals (a Venrock-backed company), Ilypsa (acquired by Amgen), Affymax (acquired by GSK), Scios (acquired by Johnson and Johnson), PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle), Aspect Development (acquired by Itwo), TGV (acquired by Cisco), One Touch Systems (acquired by Apollo Group), Intermolecular, and Scientific Software (acquired by Agilent).

Mr. Goldby earned an A.B. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Goldby is a registered patent attorney. In addition to Qteros, Mr. Goldby currently serves on the boards of Nanosys and Sapphire Energy.

 

Jason Matlof

Battery Ventures

Jason Matlof has been a Director of Qteros since 2007. Mr. Matlof joined Battery Ventures in January 2005 and focuses on investments in the clean technology and enterprise infrastructure sectors. Before joining Battery, he spent more than a decade in management roles at leading technology companies. Most recently, Mr. Matlof served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Neoteris, which was acquired by NetScreen and then by Juniper Networks. At Neoteris, he was responsible for developing and executing the company's product strategy and establishing leadership within the emerging SSL VPN product category.

Prior to Neoteris, Mr. Matlof spent five years at Cisco Systems, where he led the product management team for the company's multi-billion-dollar family of fixed-configuration Catalyst switches. He has also held positions with Ford Motor Company, Ericsson Raynet Corporation, and MPR Associates.

Mr. Matlof received a B.A. cum laude in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. In addition to Qteros, Mr. Matlof currently serves on the boards of Agito Networks, Redwood Systems, and SolarBridge Technologies.

 

Jeffrey C. Sharp

President, Jattra Ventures

Jeffrey Sharp has served as a Director since co-founding Qteros in 2006. Mr. Sharp led the Company in its start-up phase and most recently served as the Company's Senior Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs.

A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Sharp, currently serves as President of Jattra Ventures and has created many successful businesses, including XSCapacity, an online exchange for more efficient use and distribution of excess manufacturing capacity; Gravity Graphics, Inc., of New York, an Inc. 500 company; and TechCavalry, Inc., along with several other computer software and service businesses. He has received numerous awards for entrepreneurship, including "Environmental Achievement" and New York State's "Small Business Person of the Year" awards.

Mr. Sharp received a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire. He has served on the boards of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, the Brooklyn Business Development Association, HeavyLift Systems, and as Chair of the Regional Tech Council. Mr. Sharp lives in a LEED-certified home in Amherst, Massachusetts, that incorporates several of his own innovative green products.
