Governments around the world are recognizing the critical role renewable fuels must play in the future energy mix—politically, environmentally and economically.
Producing renewable fuels from sustainable domestic resources helps address some of today's most pressing national priorities—with energy security at the top of the list.
U.S. government mandates that institutionalize demand for advanced biofuels are critical for promoting the investment required for achieving commercial scale. The U.S. has taken some important initial steps in this direction, including the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) which together mandate the inclusion of 36 billion gallons per year of renewable biofuels in the domestic transportation fuel supply by 2022, with 16 billion gallons required from cellulosic biofuels. Other countries have taken even stronger steps to mandate biofuel requirements.
The challenge of energy security represents a critical global issue. Countries around the world, from Brazil to India to China, are pursuing policies that mandate targets for blending ethanol with other fuels. This trend, together with the regional availability of vast quantities of low-cost, non-food feedstocks, is creating profitable, new opportunities in a variety of important geographic markets.
Qteros has a global perspective, working with policy makers to promote the adoption of legislation to drive long-term investment in renewable biofuels.
