Blueair Classic 205 Air Purifier Review: An Honest & Unbiased Look

The Classic family will offer you good performance at a mid to high-range cost, and this Blueair Classic 205 is no different, although it is a bit expensive considering it lacks a Smart Sensor and DualProtection filter that must be purchased separately.

Unboxing the Blueair Classic 205 Air Purifier: Design & First Impressions

The Blueair Classic 205 features the minimalistic design that runs through the whole Classic line. That being said, it is also crafted from durable galvanized steel. Luckily the unit is lightweight enough to be moved around your home with ease even though it does not come with a set of casters.

On top of the unit, you will find the control panel with only three touch buttons. The three LED icons display the status of the WI-Fi connection, speed control, and filter status.

The Blueair Classic 205 should be placed in an upright position in a semi-centralized area of the room, at least four inches away from the wall or any other object, for the best overall experience.

It is really straightforward to use this model since it allows you to switch the unit on/off, control the speed and timer setting via Wi-Fi connection and through Blueair Friend App as well as manually.

Putting the Blueair Classic 205 Air Purifier to Work: Performance & Effectiveness

Suitable for use in medium-sized rooms, offices, nurseries with CADR of 180 cubic meters per hour. It is safe to say that the air filtration technology used in Blueair purifiers is one of the best currently.

The HEPASilent technology uses a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration that can trap even the tiniest 0.1 microns airborne particles and pollutants. This filter guarantees top-notch performance with the power to capture 99.97% of pollutants such as pollen, dust, pet dander, and mold spores.

If you are willing to pay some extra cash, then make sure you purchase the DualProtection filter, which consists of a SmokeStop filter and Activated Carbon filter. The Activated Carbon filter is made of magnesium dioxide with copper oxide impregnation. This DualProtection filter is highly effective against all kinds of pollutants like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), odors, and smoke.

All Blueair Classic purifiers process the air the same way. The air goes into the unit through the back of the device from where it continues to ionizer than through the HEPA filter before it comes out purified through the vent on top of the unit.

The speed is adjustable, and you can opt between three different settings. The first two are quiet, while the third is rather noisy and not convenient for use during the night. What disappointed us, considering the price of this air purifier, is that it does not come with a Smart Sensor. The Smart Sensor automatically adjusts fan speed according to the quality of the air.

There are some additional features that are worth mentioning. First, it is ENERGY STAR rated; therefore, it will limit the energy use and cost as well. Second, it comes equipped with Night Mode that reduces the fan speed and light. The filter replacement indicator will switch to orange to alert you that it is time for a change.
